[When the replies come he lets his phone thunk him on the head. Don't worry, France, he knows that was a low blow, but this is what happens when you mention doubt to begin with. It down spirals and he just makes it sounds like he's right, because lo and behold France realise he actually cares even just a bit.
He's not great at apologising either, so I guess he just ... avoids him until the party now.
