[His offer is an olive branch to start over. To get to know her for her without the urge to throw himself into romantic theatrics based off of some bottle's side effects. It's not that he doesn't have couches that would be good with a guest on them, if only for the night.]
Being someone's spouse does not mean you love them. Or even like them.

Hell, he's romanced important diplomats' daughters (and a few sons) upon request of his boss because networking. [She looks down at her rose scented ice cream. What was she even doing here? Of all the people she could go to cry about her no longer daughter. Did she really have to choose him?
Arceus forbid that star bottle actually having long term effects on the body. But she does smile a bit. Awkward or not, France was still kind enough to take her in at this time of night. The least she could do was try to feel better and offer him some ice cream, holding the spoon up to his lips and everything.]
[He took her in and was considerate enough to wear a shirt while he was at it. That's saying something! He smiles in return, shrugging at the suggestion.]
And leave you down here alone?
[He will take your ice cream though. If he must be up, he will accept sweets...]
Why didn't I grab a bowl while I was at it? How thoughtless of me!
Unless you wish to just have it from the carton. [It's more compassion than judging I swear.]
Well, if you don't mind double dipping then I could honestly care less if you had a bowl or not.
[She pokes at it with her spoon. Even sharing the spoon didn't bother her in the slightest. Hell, he could lick that thing all he wanted, she'd still use it...wait that sounded wrong. She'll just rest her head on his shoulder now.]
[You don't know him yet Cynthia, or you wouldn't even humor the thought of him being concerned about eating off of someone's spoon. Which he does, because who wants to be alone in eating ice cream at the gross hours of the morning.]
There are far worse things to do. Stop worrying about it.
[He'll even let her settle like that. It's a quiet moment, where they're stuck in their own thoughts -- admittedly his are a little sluggish.]
[She smiles at that. Actually, she asked England in passing. But she's rather keep that part a secret and bring back a bit of the fantasy in their..."relationship". She eats another spoonful.]
[There are other flavors of fantasy... but oh. He's trying to be good, mostly because not everyone can handle his affection. And he's still deciding just how affectionate he should be to cause the least amount of chaos.]
I mean, I did have to make sacrifices for you. [He sounds awfully stern for a second, before rudely taking her spoon for his own bite.] I had to put on a shirt for you.
[He's stopped sleeping completely nude because his kids are one thing, but other kids not used to seeing part-time nudists is a bit of a culture shock he doesn't want to force on anyone. Pants. It's how he shows his consideration for his daughter!]
I know...you had to cross a very heavy intersection to get to me the first time. Don't think I forgot about that.
[She'll forgive him for just taking her spoon. If anything, she found it a little cute. Just a little. But she will raise her head for a brief moment to kiss him on the cheek.]
